Digital Voiceover Video (Creative Critical Reflection)

 Introduction

The creative critical reflection was a final step towards our post production status. We made a PowerPoint each individually about our film. My PowerPoint consists of 48 slides with a given voice over. I go into detail about what exactly our film is about and how we made it. This was a long and lengthy assignment but it got finished.

Reflection

I used my own laptop and sometimes a school laptop to complete this PowerPoint about our film. Using PowerPoint and Google for slides as well as going to files and pulling our footage out to present in the slideshow was one of the steps. We worked on this individually and I'd say I did good on it. I was thorough and lengthy with my slides and did not go over the time frame which is 20 minutes.

Final Film: Love and Vengeance

 Introduction

After a long process of making our film, it's finally done after receiving feedback and having to reshoot scenes. We tried our hardest to make sure our film was as good as it can possibly be. Me and my team worked hard on filming and I spent many time editing this film within school and at home. I hope this film does well and here you go.

First Film Draft feedback

 Introduction

Our film was reviewed by another group, we were given a hefty amount of criticism and we had to go back and change things. We had to add a narration for our film as well as add more scenes to our film.
This was tedious to do but necessary for a better film opening. We were able to complete everything that was deemed bad with a list of criticism I wrote down when we sat down when they reviewed it.

Reflection

After getting our MC, Lisa played by Elisa, to give us a narration on the film. It drastically helped our film, we got to make everything correct and we shot new scenes to tell more depth on the story. This was helpful and needed. The feedback allowed us to see errors we didn't realize we made. After reviewing the criticism and the things we fixed, we are confident we made the right adjustments to make a better film opening.

Our First Film Draft

Introduction

Our film experience was a long and hefty recording process. We had to make due with certain arrangements in the limited filming times. We did have issues with audios in certain scenes. Once we completed filming I was tasked with editing it. I put in the songs we all collaborated to put in and put every clip together. I used cuts and transitions between scenes to tell the story. Once it was done I posted it to Youtube.

Sound Editing Decisions (Film)

Introduction

Sound editing to begin with, is the process of manipulation of sound to tell a story within the film. As the video editor of the group, I was tasked to edit sound into the film as well. I used multiple sound cues and music to tell the story. I decided to use a teenage angst song by Oliva Rodrigo as well as Rushes by Frank Ocean to tell a story. We used a school bell ringing to introduce the film and tell the setting immediately towards the audience. We all discussed on what songs to put and it was lengthy thinking process. The amount of time editing this was unfunny. Editing everything took a weeks time including breaks.

Visual Editing Decisions (Film)

Introduction

Editing the film consisted of both sounds and visual effects. Visual editing was easier than doing the SFX but still hard none the less. I decided to make the format have a black border between the sides to replicate a film theatre format. I also implemented credits on screen and text inciting the next day and place. I chose to add fade ins and fade outs to transition between scenes without being too distracting. This was a long process of doing this for every scene that needed a transition. As sole editor I had to edit it on my own but I had suggestions from my teammates and I took them all and implemented in the film one way or another.

Bloopers PT. 2 (Production)

 Introduction

We had more bloopers the 2nd day of filming. We got everything done smoothly but that isn't to be done without our funny cuts that didn't make it into the film's opening. We had a scene where one of our actors barked at the MC which caused everyone to laugh. This was a more funnier filming day compared to the last one.

Day 2 Filming Behind the scenes (Production)

 Introduction

Day 2, we had our filming group this time and our cast ready to film. Although, we had gotten feedback from other groups so we re-shot some scenes. We wanted to make sure we fix every mistake before wrapping up our filming. Day 2 was more smoother and more enjoyable than the last filming day. We shot scenes with the boyfriend here as well as more location shots to introduce the setting.

Reflection

Filming on day 2 was a smooth process, we fixed issues with our camera and we got everyone prepped to film. We didn't have to worry about SAT timing and we had mostly everything done at this point. We wrapped up the film with this day of filming. It was hefty recording but we eventually did it. We congratulated each other at the end.

Bloopers! (Production)

 Introduction

When filming, there will always be failed attempts and funny bloopers. Day one had lots of bloopers and failures that looking back we were shocked we made it through filming. Our bloopers consisted of faulty acting or just confusion between casts or just horrible timing. Between shooting scenes, we were laughing with scenes we failed to do.

Reflection

Looking back at our bloopers allowed us to fix our mistakes and revaluate any issues that happened during that scene. We wanted to be careful and nitpicked everything that went wrong but we also had fun looking back at them. This is one of our bloopers that didn't make the cut into the film. Me and our group as well as the actors we had laughed about these bloopers.

Day 1 Filming behind the Scenes (Production)

Introduction

Day 1, we started filming our movie and had setbacks but also enjoyed it. We had to get everything in order as well as get a additional actor. We had to film by ourselves for Day 1 due to our teammates taking their SATs. We got the base scenes down and I began editing them together to save time. We had to wait forever for the bathroom to be free for filming. Since I am a boy, I had to wait outside while they filmed inside the girls bathroom for our scene. We had a lot of arguing but we got everything done. Very stressful but we got everything done with our cemented routine.

Reflection

Filming our movies opening was immediately not off to a good start due to SAT timing. But, we managed and in the end we got everything done with just me and my other teammate Dorine B. After completing Day 1's filming, we went back on my Iphone which we used to shoot the scenes and reviewed flaws or positives about what we did.

Cast and Crew (Production)

 Introduction

Our cast and crew were picked from our friend groups, Cambridge teammates, as well as volunteers. Our crew was just us, I manned the camera, my partner Dorine B. directed everything, Skye T. worked on makeup and costumes, and Skye T. was our screen writer. We used a diverse cast to represent students in our film's school. Our main character, Lisa is played by Elisa, one of our friends who agreed to play this role. Akeem, our friend, played the role of Lisa's boyfriend. We casted them due to their personalities, the boyfriend had to be charming and the main character had to be kind and emotional. We also made use of other castings like the boyfriend's friends and the main character's best friend. Kenneth plays the boyfriend's best friend and Dana plays Lisa's friend. Fernando also plays Lisa's mutual friend who she comes to seek advice from.

Reflection

After deciding our cast and crew roles, we went on to film our movie's opening. Everything went smooth with additions of new volunteers who wanted to be apart of the film. We established everyone's roles and everyone went well with touches of improvision in some parts. We used my Iphone to film the scenes and we all enjoyed filming this.

Location, Location, Location! (Production)

Introduction

We had to establish the locations set for filming. We chose a hallway in our school near one of our plots location, the C building hallway to our Media Studies class. We also used the outside of the school to establish setting in our film. Location was easy to find in this part of production due to heavy planning. We used the C building bathroom as well to show a beat within our film. The classroom was used to tell a good part of our story and with the outside of the school being shown it allows for detailed mise en scene.

Reflection

After filming in the locations chosen, we looked back and saw it fit perfectly for our story. We used my IPhone 11 max to film these shots. After our actors were carefully placed in these locations to tell the story, we were satisfied with what we shot. Our group had to work time efficiently due to the strict filming time we were alotted.

Script (Pre Production)

Introduction

A film isn't possible without a script. We had to make a script for our casted characters to memorize and say within our film. Our cast did well and some improvised off the given lines to add more emphasis to the story. This was one of our last steps for pre production phase.

“Love and Vengeance”

Script made by Richard S

Period 1

Lisa (Narration): This is my boyfriend Akeem, I met him in a ninth grade biology class, and ever since then we’ve been a couple

Akeem: What class you going to?

Lisa: I have Mr. Anderson

Akeem: So what are you gonna do? You gonna go to class right now?

Lisa: Yea, Im gonna go talk to my best friend (Smiling expression) Dana.

Akeem: Whos that?

Lisa: Thats my best friend, shes in my class.

Akeem: She a sophomore too?

Lisa: Yea

Akeem: Well have a great day

Lisa: You too!

NEXT SCENE

Lisa (Narration): This is Dana, we’ve been best friends ever since kindergarten, and now its almost like she’s a sister to me, I dont know what I’d do without her.

Lisa: Hi, how are you?

Dana: Good what about you?

Lisa: Im good

Dana: Did you hear about that rumor thats been spread?

Lisa: What rumor?

Dana: About you cheating on your boyfriend? It's been all over the place

Lisa: I have no clue about this

NEXT SCENE

Lisa: Nothings real, nothings real, I dont know what to do...

(Group of kids walk by)

Group: Mhm...

Lisa: Do yall know who told people I cheated?

Group: That girl over there (points).

Reflection

After having our cast read and practice the script, we were able to have less cuts n bloopers in our scenes. Memorizing lines helped the flow of the scenes. I used Word to make the script and share with my teammates. I did this on my own laptop at home while contacting our director, Dorine B. to help out with lines that need to be written.
