Introduction
Lighting in film is the art of evoking emotion and mise en scene throughout creative lighting. Lighting in film is significant because it subconsciously tells the tone of a scene or shot to the audience and is a big key in properly filming your genre. Natural lighting is the act of shooting with a natural light source. Soft lighting provides a aesthetic towards a scene with subtle light from outdoors. Low Key lighting can make a shot look dark and shadowy through low key lights. Practical lighting is using light sources in the setting to provide light for the shot like a lamp. Split lighting is where you have light in half of the subject and leave the other half in darkness. Broad lighting is when you cast a small shadow on the subject's side of their face where they're not showing to the camera.
