Preliminary Exercise 4: Analyzing Mise en scene

Preliminary Exercise 4: Analyzing Mise en scene

INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH

In this preliminary exercise, we chose a film of our choice and analyzed elements of Mise en Scene within the film. We had three sections towards this exercise, each person in our group took one section. We went over vocabulary related towards mise en scene and its elements as well. We also went over the general information of the film we chose to analyze. Then finally, the last section consisted of still frames from the film with explanation of the elements like acting, setting, color, and more. The objective of this exercise was to be able to display proper understanding of mise en scene within film by evaluating a film of our choice and the elements of mise en scene in the beginning of the film. The film we chose was "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse".

REFLECTION PARAGRAPH

The objective of this exercise was to overall strengthen our knowledge of Mise en scene in film and our analytical ability to find its elements within films. The process of this exercise mostly took part in Office 365 'Word', the other parts of this process took place in Google for research about the film we chose. I would say I am well versed in using Office 365 at a high intermediate or expert level. We made this document to deeply analyze the chosen film as well as show knowledge in elements of Mise en scene. In the document, we discussed related vocabulary, general information of the chosen film, and elements of Mise en scene found in still shots of the beginning part of the film. I worked with my partners "M" and "D" to create this document and we all equally shared work to get our work finished in adequate time. We learned how to properly describe and analyze Mise en scene elements within films at the end of this exercise.
