Preliminary Exercise 13: Introduction to Sound in Film (Be a Sound Engineer)

Preliminary Exercise 13: Introduction to Sound in Film (Be a Sound Engineer)

Introduction paragraph

Sound in film are audio cues placed inside of films that provide storytelling and tone. Sound enhances a movie by helping build the tone and emotion of a film as well as build the plot with audio. When I watch a film I tend to listen to the music and sound effects of things especially in sci fi films like Star Wars. Sound supports the genre, characters, and setting by offering audio cues people can associate with a specific genre, character, or setting like a theme song for a hero or a windy sound in a haunted forest are all sounds we can use to associate between each other. Sound supports the atmosphere of the film by determining the actual tone of the scene, it can have a somber song or lonely audio cues which builds the atmosphere well inside of films. Sound can create audience engagement by captivating their attention with action packed audios or thrilling effects.

Reflection paragraph

I learnt a lot about sound's role in film and how important it is to include and use. Me and my partner Dorine B. split the work into two as I worked on the first part and she worked on the second part with a bit of my help after I finished my section. Me and my partner worked on school given laptops and finished this assignment on Office365, I would say we were well versed in using Word for this assignment. I would say me and my team did well on this assignment and met the criteria for it.
