Introduction
IGeneration is the production company for the "Kissing Booth" and it's follow up movies. IGeneration is a conglomerate company, meaning they aren't a solo company and are partnered up to other companies. IGeneration favor making love and drama films and shows. They engage their audience through trailers and teasers for their upcoming films. They promoted their film through TikTok, YouTube, and streaming platforms with ads and videos. They distributed their film through Netflix, a streaming platform. The case study I'll be studying is about Kissing Booth with reviews about it and how it engages the audience through it's opening.
General Information about the film
- The Kissing Booth is a romantic drama which faces the aspects of teen love and dramatic aspects that will keep its target audience engaged throughout the movie. The movie revolves around the main character Elle as she navigates her way through high school while dealing with a long-term crush of hers.
- The name of the film is The Kissing Both, and it is appropriate for the movie as the movie's plot surrounds the main character, Elle, having to face her crush when she signs up for a kissing booth at the spring carnival.
A tagline for a movie is a line which gives an idea to other individuals on what the movie will bring and offers them, allowing others to decide if they may be interested in viewing the movie. I believe the tagline for the film is ‘“In life you can either follow the rules or follow your heart”, indicating that the movie goes into deeper topics regarding the secrecy revolving the main characters crush and her decisions throughout the movie as the climax of the movie occurs, since the tagline hints that Elle had to follow her heart in the end and not stick to rules that her and Lee had set up for themselves, although she should have been honest, it wasn’t right if she had ignored her feelings all together.
Film Plot
The plot of the movie revolves around Elle Evans who struggles with finding romance, until she decides to sign up for the kissing booth at her high school's spring carnival, which leads to her unexpectedly having to face her crush who happens to also be her best friend, Lee’s, brother. Elle is faced with the conflict of supposedly risking her friendship with Lee as she is met with the forbidden romance she is unwilling to confront. The movie follows Elle on her journey through high school and what she is willing to do to end her long-term crush but remains on good terms with her childhood best friend, while facing other teenage struggles along the way.
